Our Story

It was the summer of 2018 – August 8th: Kirsty’s 28th birthday.  She had arrived in Phuket for the first time four days earlier, ready to embark on her new Thailand teaching adventure. She had met lots of people in those first few days and, that evening, they were going out for a birthday celebratory dinner. All were welcome: including a certain unknown teacher who Kirsty was yet to meet.

That unknown teacher, of course, was none other than Mike. Mike had arrived in Thailand a few weeks earlier and had been spending his time travelling with his friend Henry. He’d just got back to Phuket that day and was more than happy to go out for a dinner and meet some of his new colleagues.

Soon into their conversation that evening, Mike and Kirsty realised just how closely they would be working together. It turned out, not only would they be working in the same school, but in the same year group, and in classrooms just opposite each other.

What followed was the blossoming of a beautiful friendship. Not withstanding the occasional flirtatious exchange, they would remain firm friends for the first few months of their acquaintance. Sharing laughs and lesson planning, Kirsty was determined not to mix romance with work. All that changed however, four months later when Mike asked Kirsty out for their first date.

Six years, seven houses and countless unforgettable moments later, they have gone from friends to fiancé’s and are now ready to embark on the next stage of their relationship by becoming husband and wife.
